Position Summary:

The Pastry Chef is responsible for the production and creation of all baked items for the community. Pastry Chef will produce creative and fresh items for daily meals and special occasions. This position reports directly to the Executive Chef.

Essential Functions:

*
Attends work as scheduled and follows community’s call-off procedures.

*
Produces creative baked goods – desserts, breads, other items within specific dietary guidelines

*
Decorates and plates various pastries and desserts

*
Keeps the kitchen organized and clean. Maintains safety and sanitary standards in production areas according to SH standards.

*
Cleans and maintains equipment and tools.

*
Inspects pastry shop, baking equipment, and workers for cleanliness.

*
Executes Spring Hills’ house recipes.

*
Represents the interests of community and department goals and budgets in use of resources to meet service and productivity demands.

*
Maintains a sanitary work area and follows Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure food safety.

*
Ensures proper storage and labeling of food.

*
Complies with all portion sizes, quality standards, departmental rules, policies and procedures.

*
Selects and uses knives, hand tools, utensils and equipment to decorate, weigh, measure, maintain holding temperature, bake, cook, whip, refrigerate, fold, grate, pipe, coat or otherwise produce food in the pastry kitchen

Non Essential Functions:

Performing any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

Attends all required training, in-services, and staff meetings.

Experience and Education:

High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate); 3 plus years experience, or an equivalent of education and experience; culinary degree a plus, ServSafe certification required.
